After years fatigued by the severe consequences of fires, Portugal is taking the lead in the defense of forests, through the promotion and international cooperation in the management of forest fires.
Under the seal of the International Liaison Committee (ILC), the International Wildland Fire Conferences have already taken place in various corners of the world since the first edition in 1989, until they reach their new "host" - Alfândega do Porto, from May 16 to 19, 2023.
The Portuguese edition is in charge of AGIF - Agency for Integrated Management of Rural Fires and the Portuguese Republic, which expects to gather more than 1200 participants from all over the world , as well as more than 500 important scientific papers in the areas of Integrated Fire Management and Fire Risk Governance.
