In 2024, Cascais celebrated the power of Volunteering and the value of solidarity

On January 29, 2024, Cascais officially took on the responsibility of being the first Portuguese Volunteer Capital, a title designated by the Portuguese Confederation of Volunteering (CPV). This award provided a unique opportunity for the large Volunteering family to share experiences, recognize the work done and celebrate the achievements made. Among the most notable moments were:

- The Volunteer Festival

The Volunteering Festival was held on May 24 and 25, 2024, as part of the commemoration of a very significant 2024 for the community: "This past year we had more than 1,700,000 hours of Volunteering. If we consider, for example, 10 euros for each hour of volunteering, we're talking about more than 17 million euros brought into the municipality's social economy through the work of all these people," said Nuno Piteira Lopes, vice-president of Cascais Town Council.
