Society and Development

Organized by the Global Center for Pluralism, a charitable organization founded by His Highness the Aga Khan in partnership with the Government of Canada, the Annual Conference on Pluralism offers an opportunity to learn from people whose work makes a practical difference in the world.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed was one of the architects of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the ambitious set of 17 development goals adopted unanimously by members of the United Nations in 2015.

The 2019 lecture, presented by His Highness the Aga Khan, attracted an audience of around 200 people to the Ismaili Center in Lisbon, including senior members of the Portuguese government and civil society, the diplomatic corps, business leaders and academia with an interest in sustainable development.

The event was broadcast live, reaching an estimated audience of 5,525 people.
